The Jak-STAT pathway is activated by both cytokines and interferons. This pathways allows for rapid and direct transduction of an extracellular signal into the nucleus. Signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT) are activated by the Janus (JAK) family of tyrosine kinases. Activated STATs then dimerize, translocate to the nucleus, and mediate expression of many various gene products. |
